  • Gamebook Adventures Almost ready to Un-leash an Assassin

    silver_ga_logo_sm

Tin Man Games today announced the second title in the Gamebook Adventures fantasy series, which will be released on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

An Assassin in Orlandes will be released later this year to partner The Siege of the Necromancer as the first two original interactive books based within the fantasy setting of Orlandes.

The latest announcement finds Orlandes City in the grip of fear – nobles are being murdered by a ruthless and unknown assassin no one seems able to catch. Finding yourself caught within a web of deceit, you must locate him before it’s too late, especially as he takes something most precious to you.

Readers will create a character with individual attributes and jump into an exciting story where they must follow the trail of the assassin. As with traditional gamebooks, the reader gets to make key decisions that will dictate the direction of the story and encounter characters and creatures which they must fight using a dice driven battle system. Using the iPhone or iPod Touch as a dice shaker, the reader will be able to roll 3D dice utilising an accurate physics system.

Tin Man Games’ creative director, Neil Rennison, said: “We are working with a team of talented writers and illustrators to create a collection that will appeal to not only the nostalgic gamebook fans, but also to a whole new generation.

“The first six books will focus on the fantasy genre, but we are also investigating opportunities for other genres too such as science-fiction and horror. Readers will then be able to grow their own personal library as new books are released within the series.

“Along with the iPhone and iPod Touch releases we are also looking to bring these books to other digital platforms too.”

An Assassin in Orlandes and The Siege of the Necromancer will be available as Gamebook Adventures on the App Store from November 2009. To keep up with the latest news follow the Gamebook Adventures Facebook page as well as the Twitter feed @TinManGamebooks. Other titles will be announced at a later date. Prices will be announced at the time of release.

October 6th, 2009 – Beneath a Steel Sky – Remastered, an evolution of the award-winning graphic adventure designed by Charles Cecil in collaboration with Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons, will be available for iPhone and iPod touch through Apple’s App Store on Friday October 9th.

Priced £2.99/$4.99/€3.99, Beneath a Steel Sky – Remastered brings the 1994 classic bang up to date for Apple’s handhelds, with all-new illustrations and animations provided by Dave Gibbons, a fresh interface designed specifically for touch input, a brand new hint system, and digitally remastered art and sound.

The game received considerable critical acclaim on its original release, earning 95 per cent from CU Amiga, 94 per cent from Amiga Format, and 93 per cent from The One. Presciently described as being “destined to become a classic”, the game – which has since become a bona fide classic – remains as fresh and as playable today, weaving a thrilling narrative with intriguing puzzle solving in an epic story of conspiracy, betrayal and conflict.

Beneath a Steel Sky – Remastered is the first title to emerge from Charles Cecil’s Revolution Pocket division, which aims to bring classic and original titles to formats supporting digital distribution.
